Activities for Students during COVID-19 Closure
Parents and guardians,
The students have received a page with activities to complete during the school closure. I have suggested which week they should complete the work to give some structure.
Attached is a copy of this work – 5th Class Activity Pack COVID-19 Closure
If the children have internet access available to them there is some very useful academic resources on the following file – Online Activities
Google classroom is in the process of being set up and should be live next week. Parents will receive notification of this in due course from the school with necessary details to log in.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me through email (firstname.lastname@example.org) should you have any further queries.
MICROSOFT’S DREAM SPACE- CLASS TRIP!!
On Friday last (4th October), our very lucky 5th classes, were invited to attend Microsoft’s new state of the art building in Leopardstown, Co. Dublin, to visit their amazing purpose built digital ‘Dream Space’.
The boys made the journey by bus and upon arrival they were warmly greeted by the facilitators, Niamh and Kayla. We were taken on a short tour of the facility and shown around the amazing modern building.
After our tour, the boys were fed and watered with a super healthy breakfast, then it was time for some Micro bit coding. The boys were taught how to programme the Micro Bit to carry out various functions and tasks. After our session with the Micro Bits, we were introduced to the really cool Microsoft 3D paint app, where the boys got the opportunity to make their own videos around the theme of ‘The 17 Global Goals’.
The boys had an amazing day in Dream Space and some have even suggested they hope to work there in the near future. Many thanks to Niamh and Kayla form the Microsoft Education team, for making our day such a memorable one of fun and learning with technology.
